Why use a native player instead of the browser?

Lumicast offers native player applications for Windows, macOS, Linux, Raspberry Pi, LG webOS and Samsung Tizen. You can also open the player in any browser at https://player.lumicast.com — so why bother installing the platform-specific player?

Benefits of the native player over browser-only

1. Autostart — if your displays lose power overnight, the native app launches on boot and continues where it left off.
2. Remote reboot — the native player can receive a signal to reboot the device, letting you reboot remotely from within Lumicast.
3. Better performance — the native app gives Lumicast more control over playback performance.
4. Reboot scheduling — some devices slow down after days of uptime. A scheduled reboot (e.g. nightly between 2:00–3:00) keeps them healthy.
